Welcome

Culture East Midlands is the regional champion for culture. Our role is to drive change in cultural policy and planning in the region. We also produce a Regional Cultural Strategy for the cultural sector to work towards which is currently under review.

Culture defines the way we live. It touches everyone's lives, whether playing sport, visiting the cinema, making music, supporting local events or simply visiting the region's buildings and landscapes.

Culture is also important to our economy. The creative and cultural industries in the region employ some 212,000 people, or 1 in 10 jobs. In 2002 its value was £4bn of the East Midlands' economy.

We believe that through a joint approach to advocacy, championing, research and influencing, we can ensure that the East Midlands is a region where people can participate in a thriving cultural life.
